Vintage Saturdays: Valve Knobs

Sometimes the smallest objects can be used in some of the coolest DIY projects.  Eternally awesome items are old valve knobs.  Some were previously used on hoses or plumbing and can be found in a wide array of colors, sizes, and styles.  There are many handmade sellers online using them in their pieces.  Here are a few artists that I adore...

stringnthings turns them into super cool necklaces:

ikcdesign creates really cool wine stoppers from old valve knobs:

cre8iveconcrete makes the most awesome lamps using old plumbing and valves:

Looking for a unique bracelet with an industrial, steampunk look?
Dinglewear attaches valve knobs to leather cuffs:

Valve knobs can also be incorporated into home decor, like these wall hooks featured on

Feeling inspired?  These etsy sellers always have lots of old valve available for sale!

Vintage Americana: Classic Style

What is it about the combination of red, white and blue that is both patriotic and also so classically inviting into a home's decor?  Today, a few beautiful finds for you to feast your eyes on.  The timeless looks of these pieces, I think you'll agree, makes these perfect for much more than just during our most patriotic holidays.

The Outdoorsy Type

Summer should mean more than just flinging open your windows, outdoor grilling, and no school.  Summer should mean rediscovering nature, spending time outdoors, and watching the natural world go by.

Today, some etsy finds for you that evoke that feeling.

Shop Class

Our school years always evoke such interesting memories.  Some pleasant and perhaps some not so much.  One of my favorite classes in school?  It was definitely shop class.  We were only able to have it for a few marking periods in school, but I loved it.

Clover Market

Have you heard of Clover Market? It is a lovely upscale handmade market that happens once a month at select times of year in Ardmore, PA (super close to Philly). This Sunday, the market will be open with over 70 vendors confirmed. If you're free on Sunday, head on over! Here are the details:

12 E. Lancaster Avenue
Ardmore, PA 19003
10am to 4pm

If you can't make it this Sunday, October 16th, be sure to keep November 6th open. That will be the last day the market is open until Spring 2012. Although I personally won't make it this weekend, I am getting ready for the November 6th market, which will be my first time there as a vendor with many items from my funretro shop. If you decide to go, feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think of Clover Market!
